to once more roam the blessed earth
i knew going in tat watching the king and the clown was gonna be bad... bad in the sense tat i would be bawling at the end of the movie, tat i would be totally wrecked for lee jun ki, tat i'd be moping over the tragic beauty of it long after the final scene has faded to black.
jus a few things, cuz there are other ppl, like
coldcrab, who can say it so much better, and with pictures too ;) lolz! and while trawling for more pics of the movie and his bishounen-ness, i came across this article in english (finally!) analysing the success of the movie.
ok, now, the only reason i can think of for NOT SEEING THIS MOVIE UNTIL NOW was cuz i was ensconced far away down under, apart from decent asian civilisation for an entire year, otherwise my yaoi-loving soul could not possibly stand for it.
now for my own 2 cents bt the movie. jus adding on to wat
coldcrab had to say (and u'd better have already read wat she had to say *pointy finger*) i think that despite the lack of a pay-off (ie. why dun the 2 jus kiss and get it on already?) jang-saeng and gong-gil's bond is long-standing and built from the many years they've spent together. and even it seems that they go to their graves (sob!) without ever consummating it, i deeply believe tat their connection was rooted in a romantic love.
i like how only towards the end, u gradually see glimpses of their back story, and how their strongest passions only spill forth during those 最紧要的关头. it's subtle, and makes u appreciate their 真情流露 all the more (and i'm starting to mix languages cuz it's nearly 2 am and my brain is melting down...)
it's truly yaoi - angsty yaoi - of the highest degree set against a backdrop of gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous cinematography, costumes, sets... and the fairest of them all - lee joon ki... *swoons* i gotta admit i've never gone ga-ga over ANY korean actor, cuz they're all like small eyes and pasty and like wat's-the-point-cuz-they're-jus-not-pretty-enuff. but mr lee here has torn the cobwebs from my eyes - mwahahahaha!!! wat can i do? every time i saw him on screen, it was like 'OMG! he's so pretty!!!' cuz i've always had a long-standing weakness for cross-dressing male celebrities ;p
sigh... wat more could a yaoi fangirl ask for?
jus a few things, cuz there are other ppl, like
