ununoriginaltodae is vesak day, the only public holidae, apart from cny, tat my family officially observes. we dun really do much, basically we jus go to where the buddhist association has set up (or a temple, whichever is more convenient) and we pour 'holy water' over a statue of the baby buddha, then we're done and we go for lunch in a vegetarian restaurant :p
the 'bathing' of the baby buddha symbolises a cleansing - not of my sins, i think - but of the harmful/unhelpful emotions/desires tat reside within me: of envy (when i already have so much) which breeds resentment; of frustration , impatience and its ensuing anger; of an aimlessness tat manifests in reluctance and procrastination. it's symbolic, but incredibly, it seems to have an effect, tho tat could also be due to other factors, like getting to be with my family after a long while, catching up with my sis, ventilating with my mom on the ridiculously long car ride back across the causeway (we were stuck for 3 hours!).

i've been feeling a black cloud hovering over me recently, from various things here and there - the little grinding pebbles of life - but the weekend home has had a kinda cleansing effect, esp todae, when i get to share with my mom wat's been going on in my life, with work and frens and so on. ten years ago, i would never have imagined this - the r/ship with mom was fraught with friction when i was younger - but nowadays, i do see tat some of my better traits have come from her.
i also caught the latest episode of 'last friends' over the weekend (the chinese-subbing team for this dorama is absolutely amazing cuz i managed to get the subbed episode like 24 hours after it was aired!), and omg wat a tangled web they're weaving. michiru, of course, continues being the 祸根 of virtually all their probs, but i begin to identify with ruka and takeru more - since in personality, i'm more similar to them. the wider world might see them as confident, capable individuals, but deep down, we still harbour our deep, dark secrets and are fraught by insecurities cuz of them. (and i jus have to add this, cuz i'm a johnny's fan, lolz: ryo continues being handsomely creepy, or is it creepily handsome? :p)
also watched the latest episode of cartoon KAT-TUN with ayase haruka, and at points it seems more like the members are the guests themselves - the way they go off on tangents. the person who left an unexpected impression tho, is their producer (?) guy who's apparently an ayase fan and who got accused by koki of being overly enthusiastic with the cue boards - he's not bad-looking himself, lol!
