have been on a recent j-drama kick, which resulted in a buying spree of up to 8 boxsets :p  for a person who has not voluntarily turned on the tv to watch any of the local channels (regardless of whether i was in jb, s'pore or perth, 'cept for tat misguided phase where i got swindled by idol fever), i watch a heck of a lot of japanese tv.  i still can't quite decide if it's the short-&-sweet storylines, the relatively higher production values, the earnest way the shows try to illuminate lessons in life, or the beautiful beautiful bishounen.  my bro would say my tastes in j-dorama lean VERY heavily towards the last :p  wat can i say?  i'm a healthy gal, i got urges :p  mwahahahaha!!!  at least these guys aren't jus 花瓶 - they act way better than the taiwanese ppl.

so if u wanna check out j-doramas, these aren't too bad - tho some of their premises are WAY manga-like or fantastical :)

Hana Yori Dango, the jap version of 流星花园, which is WAY less long-winded than its original taiwanese counterpart.

Gokusen (which i ended up getting cuz i realised the kawaiiness tat is Matsu-jun, plus the premise of a female teacher with a secret identity  & who KICKS ASS is way too irresistible) & the follow-up, Gokusen 2, in which the cast is refreshed by the new wave, mainly one Kamenashi Kazuya (ok, liking him may be a bit paedophilic considering he is only 1 year older than my sis, but jus go to youtube.com and search for videos of some of his concert performances and one will completely understand tat it is perfectly alrite to lust after him).

- last but SO definitely not least is Nobuta wo Produce, which again has Kame-chan (he actually won Best Actor at the jap TV drama awards for his role in this show) & YamaP!! (whose dramas i seem to be unable to stop collecting, hmm...).  'NoP' is another high-school drama, but i think it differs from the others in tat the message it conveys is not really jus bt life in high school and growing up, but in tat it talks about life itself, and learning how to face up to the realities of it.  i've talked about it b4, but watching it a 2nd time, at a later time and stage in life (even if it's jus a few months later), makes me appreciate it even more.  the best shows are always like tat, i reckon :)
